On January 6, the Atlanta-born songstress took to Instagram to share photos of matching black-and-white ensembles of her and her daughter. Each image is proof that iconic style is clearly a family affair.

The “So Gone” singer’s pictures were snapped in New Orleans. While there, she and her daughter wore matching fits from Balenciaga and Jennifer Le.
Monica turned heads in a stunning black-and-white graffiti blazer dress. She paired it with sleek black tights and knee-high boots. The blazer featured bold, artistic lettering, adding an edgy, urban flair to her polished ensemble.
Monica styled her hair in soft, voluminous curls with a retro-inspired side bang and headband that perfectly framed her face. Monica’s makeup was on point, with a smoky eye and a neutral lip, balancing boldness with elegance. To elevate the outfit further, she donned a dramatic, two-toned oversized fur coat that exuded “it girl.”
Embracing her status as Monica’s mini-me, Laiyah wore a chic black faux-leather knee-length dress with a belted waist. She paired her dress with the same statement black-and-white faux fur coat as her mom and carried a matching Balenciaga purse. For her hair, Laiyah kept it sleek and stylish with waist-length braids featuring intricate cornrow details along the hairline.

“One of the things I try to consistently instill is her confidence, her belief in herself, her understanding that she is great just as she is inside and out,“ Monica said about Laiyah. “I push her towards her goals and her dreams. I’m not directing her or redirecting her away from what her goals and dreams are. We’re pushing her towards it because I think she has the right support system to be a part of whatever she wants to be a part of.“
She continued, “But I love the joy of having a daughter. I love the fun of us being able to talk about some of the female things.”
