Black Twitter Turns Being Blocked By Rebel Wilson Into A Party

Man, oh man…Australian actress Rebel Wilson found herself in hot water last week when she falsely took credit for being the first plus-sized actress to lead a rom-com with her upcoming film Isn’t It Romantic. Soon after, Black women on Twitter expressed their confusion to Wilson’s claims, especially since waaaaaay before Rebel ever got an IMBD page, women like Queen Latifah and Mo’Nique and even Ricki Lake achieved that greatness already. But that didn’t matter. Wilson wasn’t trying to hear it and when asked to explain herself, using Queen and Mo as examples that debunked her lie, she doubled down, insinuating that neither woman was really plus-sized and that films such as Just Wright and Phat Girlz really weren’t rom-coms. In her eyes, their accomplishments lived in a “gray area.” Well, naturally that didn’t sit too well with the sistas and we unleashed a serious verbal smackdown on Twitter. Even after getting schooled, Wilson still couldn’t humble herself enough to apologize and admit that she was wrong. So instead, she decided that her best bet was to mass-block her critics, not surprisingly were mostly Black folks and of folks color. So thanks to @IWriteAllDay_, aka Clarkisha Kent, who created the hilarious hashtag #RebelBlockedMeParty, Black Twitter hosted their own virtual cookout for those banned by the actress. And baby, let me tell you…it was LIT! Here’s a roundup of the growing list of folks that were blocked, folks juking at the party and those wishing they could come.
