Alicia Keys Goes Acoustic
Alicia Keys recently completed her Sessions@AOL show, where artists perform their songs exclusively and intimately (often acoustic or stripped down). She made sure to sing “Unthinkable (Ready),” a stand-out track from her “Element of Freedom” album, featuring man-of-the-moment Drake.
He had this to say about their collabo:
“They reached out and she said she really wanted me to do something on her project. But she wanted me to do me, not do an Alicia Keys record. And man, she gave me one of the best studio experiences of my life. I came in there and instead of being like, ‘Here’s the beat, get to work,’ she was just like, ‘Play me your favorite songs and lets battle.’ It’s almost like the transition from [listening to] great music to making a song — like, no one even noticed it, because she started playing the keys and I just started writing the melodies.”
“It’s probably one of the best moments of my career,” he said. “I love that song. We listen to it nonstop.”
Unfortunately, he wasn’t there to perform this time around, but hopefully we’ll see them share the stage together some time soon.
