Ashley Darby Tributes Roberta Flack With Performance

Ashley Darby showed off her singing skills during an appearance on Fox 5 DC’s morning show, Good Day DC, April 3, as she paid tribute to the late great Roberta Flack. Of course, the internet had tons to say about The Real Housewives of Potomac star’s vocal chops. 

Darby audaciously sang Flack’s 1973 classic “Killing Me Softly With His Song” during her tribute performance, attempting to hit the iconic singer’s high notes and impressive range. There were moments during the tribute when the star’s voice wavered slightly, cracking or falling just a bit flat. Despite these occasional missteps, she maintained a strong presence and pressed on with unwavering confidence. As she sang, Darby moved with the rhythm, dancing and swaying to the music provided by her backup band—fully immersed in the energy of the moment. 

After the performance, Darby told Good Day DC that singing had always been a passion of hers and now she’s pursuing it “hardcore” with her band. The housewife is set to perform at her first exhibition show on April 5 at the legendary Mr. Henry’s DC, notably where Flack was first discovered.

Fans and haters flocked to social media after clips of Darby’s performance hit the internet. Some were pleasantly surprised by her vocal abilities. 

“I admire her courage,” wrote one user in the comments section of The Shade Room. 

Another fan penned, “Not terrible,” noting how the reality TV star could use a little vocal coaching. “Just sounds like she’s at karaoke,” the supporter added.

Unfortunately, internet trolls showed the superstar mother no mercy.

“Sounds more like Roberta FLAT,” wrote one bully. 

“This cover is killing me fast,” another hater chimed in.
