Common On His Girlfriend Jennifer Hudson: ‘If I’m Going To Get Married, It’s To Her.’

Common and Jennifer Hudson are still going strong – and according to Common, there may be a wedding to plan soon. The “I Used To Love H.E.R.” rapper said as much while on The Breakfast Club on July 15.
He was there with fellow rapper Pete Rock to promote their new album, Auditorium Vol.1. But the conversation quickly turned to what we all wanted to know: the status of Common’s relationship with Jennifer. The Chicago native didn’t shy away from talking about his bae. In fact, he described their hometown connection, discussed working with her on his new album, and hinted at a more serious future.

“It’s something when you are with somebody who is from where you are from,” Common shared while talking about going home to the Windy City, spending time with Jennifer, and his music creation process. “There is a different kind of connection, too. That’s something else.”
He continued, “She’s from where I am spiritually. She’s from where I’m from, where we geographically come from, the Chi, and from where I’m from as a person.”
Common and JHud officially confirmed their relationship on daytime television in January 2024. After months of speculation and being seen in public together, Jennifer invited Common to her show. In front of the world, he gushed about his new relationship with “one of the most beautiful people” he’d ever met. Jennifer couldn’t help but smile.

Did Common Confirm Wedding Bells With Jennifer Hudson?
Leaning into Common’s answers during the TBC interview, Charlamagne tha God brought up the possibility of wedding bells. “So, you’re saying you want to get married,“ he joked. “That’s what it sounds like to me.”
While Common didn’t confirm the bells, he didn’t deny them either.
After describing his current time with J Hud as “a really healthy and beautiful relationship“ and admitting to growing and learning from past relationships, Common added, “If I’m going to get married, it is to her. It’s as simple as that.”

Following the Power 105.1 interview, Jennifer took to social media with an adorable post of her and Common posing behind the stage in casual wear. J Hud is wearing a tennis skirt and orange and white pullover while Common rocks a red and white sweatsuit with a white tee. In Common’s hands is an old-school-style radio that reads his name.
The recent picture beautifully captures the Chicago pair’s shared love, support, and respect for music and each other. Adding her signature vocals to Common’s new track “A God (There Is),” J Hud captioned her post in celebration of her man’s latest tour and album, “When God speaks, Listen! When God moves, Stand still! He has spoken.”
