61st Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Our favorite songbirds and rappers walked the red carpet last night for the 2019 Grammys, and the beauty looks were on point! I was pleasantly surprised that eyeshadow had a major moment among several celebs. So many stars tend to play it safe and neutral when it comes to glam these days, so it was refreshing to see people playing up the eyes with some color. One of my favorite looks was rocked by rapper Eve, the paw princess. Eve sported a romantic, berry eye look and big, fluttery lashes to die for. Brows and base.

Both Eve’s eyebrows and skin were looking beyond flawless. I always love to start any makeup look with the brows to help frame the face and set the tone for a look. Eve’s brows were feathered at the top and lightly filled in for a look that’s just a little more polished than your average bare brow. I tend to prefer my own brows a tad bit more defined, so I opted for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in “Chocolate” ($23.00, sephora.com). The duo comes with two shades, a light and a dark, so you can choose how soft or strong you want your brows to look!

Eve’s skin was definitely matte and perfectly pore-less. To get a similar look for less, try the L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup ($10.99, ulta.com). I love this foundation because it comes at an affordable price point, while still giving a flawless, skin-like finish. Eve was also super highlighted under her eyes, on her chin, and on her brow bone. To mimic the brightened look, use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer ($9.99, ulta.com) in a shade one to two levels lighter than your actual skin tone. Finish up by applying a bronzer to bring the warm and shadow back into your face. I used the NYC Sun ‘N’ Bronze Bronzing Powder ($4.52, walmart.com).

On to the eyes.

The rapper’s eye look was the best of both worlds. The berry tones on her eyes made it a departure from your everyday neutral look, but the finished look was soft enough to still feel effortlessly wearable. For a similar purple color palette, try the wet n wild Icon Eyeshadow Palette in “736 Petal Pusher” ($6.05, walmart.com). This is a great choice for makeup newbies as each of the colors is labeled according to how it should be used. Use the purple eyelid shade to sweep color across the mobile lid.

In the crease, take the darker purple shade in a back and forth windshield wiper motion to build up a transition color and create that blown-out, romantic effect. Take the same darker purple color underneath the eyes to complete the shape.

Eve’s eyeliner appears soft and smoky, and effect that can be achieved using black eyeshadow rather than your typical, liquid eyeliner. Using the black color in the wet n wild palette and an angled brush, gently push the shadow along the upper and lower lash line to mimic eyeliner. Finally, add a mascara of your choice; I used the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara ($9.99, ulta.com). To seal the deal, grab a dramatic pair of lashes like the Ardell Double Up Wispies ($5.99, ulta.com). The flared-out effect will compliment any eye shape.

Don’t forget the lips!

Last but not least, it’s time for lipstick. I used the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade “Rose Velvet” to mimic Eve’s glossy lips ($4.99, target.com). This color is the perfect mix between a brown and a pink for a lippie that finishes the look without stealing focus from the eyes.
