One of the best things about fashion is that things come back all the time. We see things like the 80s trends coming down today’s runways, and of course, there’s always the question of what is trendy versus what’s timeless. One of my favorite things to see celebrities rock, on and off the runway, are sequins! And yes, there are a million and one ways you can rock sequins, no matter what type of look you’re going for. You can dress them up with heels, dress them down with jeans, and all the spectrums inbetween.
Okay, so you may need a bit of help finding different sequin options to try out. Well, I’ve picked out four different looks that focus on something different, and options that can help you beauties out with recreating the look!
CROP TOP
I know we’re already envious of Kelly Rowland‘s rock-hard abs, but she SLAYS in this sequin crop top and matching wide-flare pants. If you’re into the sequin vibes, you can try out this $80 sequin set from Queen Labels, which gives a bit of extra protection up top and cinches the waist with a high-waist pant. If you’re a bit strapped for cash but also want something that gives more pops of color and a bit more coverage, then this $31 Fashion Nova set is perfect for a night out with bae or even with your girls. If you’re more into a skirt than a pair of pants, and still looking for more coverage, then Fashion Nova really does have a few more options to help you out: this $60 sequin set not only comes with the crop tee, but also an amazing mermaid-cut skirt that is sure to show off all the curves. Oh, and Charlotte Russe also has a $15 crop top for all my plus-size babes (though most of these also have some great options if you’ve got some curves.)
DRESSES

Now if you’re into dresses, like when Zendaya slayed on the red carpet in her Met Gala look, then it’s time to explore and have fun! Of course, sequins are usually colorful, and this $595 Tanya Taylor midi dress is the perfect statement-maker for any party or fancy soiree. If you’re in need of the look but for an inexpensive alternative, this $40 sequin dress from Fashion Nova also has long sleeves and a chic ombré detail. To go more for a look similar to Zendaya’s, this $87 sequin dress from Lulu‘s is a great starter. If you’re a fan of silver metallics, this strapless dress from Revolve may be right up your alley, but if you’re into being the center of attention on the dance floor, then nothing’s better than this $50 Urban Outfitters red-hot number.
There’s also this $48 super cute midi dress from Forever21 that goes up to a 3X, AND this $35 ASOS ruffle dress that’s got fluted sleeves and cut-outs throughout.
SHORTS

Sequin shorts are literally all we ever need, just ask Yara Shahidi. Make a statement in these $45 high-waisted blue shorts from Missguided, or even this $48 black-denim rainbow-inspired pair of shorts. For a bit of a pop, H&M‘s $15 gold-dotted shorts are not only cute, but super affordable for all price budgets. Another alternative are these $273 shorts from Net-A-Porter, and even though they’re currently out of stock, add your name to the emailing list to be notified when they come back! And you can always snag a pair of Bermuda shorts, like this $45 pair that go all the way up to a size 24!
BOOTS
When we all saw those sequin boots come down the YSL runways, I’m sure half of us were a bit confused, though mildly intrigued. Then Beyoncé popped out and that’s when we knew, we HAD to have them. Of course, I can give you the Saint Laurent version: for $10,000, you can have your own pair! There’s also a Dolce & Gabbana pair that retails for around $845, but is perfect for nights where you want your shoe to do the talking! For a great dupe, Steve Madden has a $200 pair of rhinestone heels that look almost the exact same. If you’ve got wider calves, this $32 black option from ASOS is affordable and an easy way of tackling the trend without breaking the bank!
If you’re more into a bootie than a thigh-high heel, there’s a $60 silver heel that’s sure to make a statement, and then a $51 silver option from Steve Madden. You can also snag this mermaid-esque pair from ASOS, which is only $48 and sure to last in your wardrobe for a VERY long time. Plus, how cute are these shoes?!
