Kevin Hart Caught Cheating
Kevin Hart shocked the world when he uploaded a video to Instagram apologizing to his family and fans. While Kevin didn’t initially reveal what he was apologizing for, prior cheating rumors added fuel to theories the superstar comedian cheated on his wife. We’d soon find out, the rumors were true and Kevin was caught in what he described as an “extortion plot” to squeeze him out of money.

Still, it didn’t stop #BlackTwitter from dragging the bite-size funny man for his affair and being dumb enough to get caught.
Usher’s Herpes Scandal
2017 tried to take Usher down with it when the Confessions singer was exposed for allegedly infecting several women and a man with herpes. Yikes. Talk about setting the Internet on fire.

Usher reportedly paid a woman $1.1 million dollars in a settlement after the woman claimed he exposed and infected her the STD. As if the initial reports weren’t damaging enough, Quantasia Sharpton, another victim who tested negative for herpes, held a press conference to discuss details about an alleged rendezvous they had after his concert.
Rob Kardashian Leaks Blac Chyna’s Nudes
Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian’s made-for-reality-TV romance came to a messy and screeching halt in 2017. And that says a lot.

Rob jumped off the deep end when he leaked nude photos of Blac Chyna and screenshots of their text message conversations on Instagram. Rob accused Chyna of cheating on him and using drugs. He also revealed Blac Chyna underwent plastic surgery after giving birth to their baby Dream, which he happily paid for.
Moral of the story: don’t be Rob Kardashian in 2018.
Remy Ma Drops Shether
The long-stewing beef between Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma boiled over into an epic one-sided rap battle in 2017 when Remy unloaded her clip on Nicki on the lethal diss track Shether.
The disrespectful record sent #BlackTwitter into overdrive, spawning countless memes and gifs. It took Nicki nearly a month to respond with an arguably sub-par response No Frauds, which left everyone in agreement — she lost that battle. Remy even appeared on the Wendy William’s Show and declared her competition dead. While Nicki’s career is bouncing back, it’s a moment she’ll never live down.

Adele Wins Album Of The Year Over Beyonce
Beyonce’s album Lemonade battled it against Adele’s 25 and lost at the 2017 Grammys. Even Adele admitted Beyonce deserved to win and dedicate her gramophone to the queen with a moving speech. The Black community is still bitter about this one but Beyonce was a class act and thanked Adele for her kind words.

Jay Z Drops 4:44
Jay Z followed in his wife’s footsteps and stopped the world when he surprisingly dropped 4:44, the male equivalent to Beyonce’s Lemonade. Hov spit some major gems on the instant classic and schooled the youth on things like credit, Black mental health and manhood.
The visuals to accompany 4:44 made it a masterpiece. Jay held intense conversations with his Black male celebrity friends, pulling back the veil on what Black men learned about Black love.
The 4:44 tour is Jay Z’s highest grossing solo tour ever at over $40 million in tickets sales thus far. Jay snagged seven Grammy nods for 4:44.
Kendrick Lamar-Be Humble
King Kendrick returned to claim his throne in 2017 with the release of his critically acclaimed album Damn and statement-making video Humble. The 14-track disc reached number one on the Billboard 200 charts and reached double platinum status.
Kendrick secured two Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Album and Album Of The Year.
SZA
This year, SZA spread her #BlackGirlMagic across the charts and into the hearts of Black women who found therapy in her debut album Ctrl.
Ctrl debuted at number three on the Billboard charts and sold over 500,000 records while becoming an anthem for women everywhere. Sza and Ctrl garnered four Grammy award nominations, including “Best New Artist.”
The Year Of Cardi B
No one had a bigger come up in 2017 than Cardi B. From her former stripping days to Instagram and reality TV fame and a number one single on the Billboard Charts, Cardi B’s glow-up changed from an adjective to a verb in the matter of a hashtag.
Cardi’s song Bodak Yellow made her the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 (without any other billed artist) and strong features on songs like No Limit and Motorsport solidified her position as one of the most popular rappers in the game.
With her career thriving, Cardi also found love in Migos rapper Offset. The duo got engaged after Offset popped the question during live on stage.
Cardi’s reign doesn’t appear to be letting up anytime soon as she was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
Issa Rae
Issa Rae was rooting for everyone Black this year, and everyone Black was rooting for Issa Rae. The content producer blazed through 2017 with season two of Insecure and pretty much every other appearance that allowed her light to shine.
Issa made Forbes’ annual ’30 Under 30′ entertainment list and accepted the “Star Power” award at this year’s Black Girls Rock ceremony. She also got to meet Beyonce this year. So there’s that.
Tiffany Haddish Has The Best Year of Her Career
Cardi B may have owned entertainment, but there was a funny woman destined to be a breakout star given the right role. Tiffany Haddish became everyone’s favorite comedienne after her scene-stealing appearance in Will Packer’s Girls Trip. Black women fell in love with Deena an the Flossy Posse and gave Tiffany the boost to mainstream success.
Tiffany appeared on the Ellen Show, chilled with Beyonce, Barbra Streisand and made history as the first Black female stand-up comedienne to host SNL.
Tamar & Vince Divorce
Plenty of celebrity couples bit the dust in 2017, but none more heartbreaking and unexpected than Tamar and Vince. Tamar, in the middle of promoting her album Bluebird Of Happiness, filed for divorce from Vince. It only got messier from there as it was revealed Vince was allegedly abusive and unfaithful.

Wendy Williams Passes Out/ Husband Exposed
While celebs like Cardi B had a stellar year in 2017, the year wasn’t as kind to everyone. Wendy Williams made headlines plenty of times, but it was the time she passed out on live TV that left fans worried about the media veteran.
Wendy’s husband Kevin Hunter had been exposed for allegedly carrying on a 10-year affair with his mistress, Sharina Hudson, weeks before Wendy’s real life Halloween scare.

According to reports, Kevin splits his time between Wendy and Hudson, who purchased a home for in New Jersey. Chile, this is enough to cause anyone to have a meltdown.

Beyonce Debuts Sir & Rumi

The Bey hive waited on edge for photos of our favorite twins (sorry Tia and Tamera). And then, boom. Beyonce shocked us all by posting the Gemini babies on Instagram. The photo became one of the most-liked photos on the gram of all time.
Lavar Ball Ruffles Trump’s Feathers
Alonzo Ball may be the NBA star, but it’s his father Lavar Ball who stole the show as one of the most controversial figures of 2017. Love him or hate him, Lavar Ball had everyone talking. From the Big Baller Brand to his controversy with President Donald Trump, Lavar Ball’s marketing tactics created a media frenzy around the family name.
The Ball family became the first family to ink a reality show with Facebook, which was recently renewed for season two.
While LiAngelo Ball kept a relatively low-profile, he was catapulted into headlines after being caught shoplifting in China. President Trump used his executive power to help the the young basketball star, before tweeting that Lavar should be more grateful for his services.

Kendall Jenner Saves The Movement With A Pepsi
Dammit. Where was Kendall Jenner and her can of Pepsi during the Civil Rights movement?

Kendall Jenner got ripped to shreds this year after the release of Pepsi’s tone deaf commercial that felt more like a spoof of the #BlackLivesMatter movement than a promotional tool. The two-minute clip sent #Blacktwitter into overdrive and spawned countless think pieces about the Kardashian/ Jenner clan.

Tyrese Has A Mental Breakdown
A Tyrese meltdown has been imminent since he went on that Instagram rant about Black women wearing weaves. Rolls eyes. 2017 started off promising for the Transformer actor. He started off the New Year with a new wife and seemed to be living his version of an Optimus Prime fairy tale. Then, it suddenly seemed to go all downhill. Tyrese went through a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife Norma, who he claimed he married to keep in the country.

Black Ty went on the Facebook Live rant heard ’round the world. “What more do you want from me” became one of the most shared gifs this year.
Migos Verses Joe Budden
Joe Budden had a pretty solid year. He had a baby and found success on the Complex show Everyday Struggle. But the rapper found himself in an awkward position when an interview with The Migos went awry at the BET Awards. Apparently Joe had enough of his co-star DJ Akademiks praising the trio and walked off during the sit-down. But nothing beats the epic ‘doitlooklikeimleftoffbadandboujee’ exchange.
