According to The New York Times, Sean Spicer resigned from his post as White House press secretary on Friday morning.
The outlet reports Spicer deeply disagreed with the administration’s appointment of New York financier, Anthony Scaramucci, as the White House communications director.
Spicer apparently stepped down after Scaramucci was offered the position on Friday morning. The Times reports President Trump asked Spicer to continue as press secretary, but Spicer could not come to terms with Scaramucci’s appointment.
Spicer steps down after several contentious months at the podium. From tense interactions with the White House press pool, to conflicting reports surrounding the president’s actions, Spicer’s resignation caps a tumultuous tenure as the administration’s front-facing messenger.
