BET Prince Tribute
BET Made Good On Its Promise And Delivered A Beautiful Prince Tribute
After the Billboard Music Awards catastrophically failed at their attempt at a Prince tribute, BET made a promise to Black America to come through with an all-star celebration of the late star.
The network delivered on its commitment, with many celebs honoring “The Purple One” with emotional performances.
Erykah Badu and Bilal opened the first of many Prince covers, starting with a soulful rendition of ‘”The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker” and “The Beautiful Ones,” backed by The Roots.
Tori Kelly and Stevie Wonder took the stage next, performing the upbeat “Take Me With You.”
Tori donned sparkling purple high-waisted pants, while Stevie rocked out in dapper purple plaid blazer.
Right after, Jennifer Hudson brought her powerhouse vocals for “Purple Rain,” and brought the whole damn house on their feet and to tears.
Later on, Sheila E. and Janelle Monáe are set to pay tribute to our fallen star.
And we know it’s going to be damn good!
