Can Kelly Rowland Replicate The Success Of Destiny's Child?
Can Kelly Rowland Replicate The Success Of Destiny’s Child With Her New Girl Group?
Last year, BET announced several original series including Brandy‘s family comedy, “Zoe Moon” and Kelly Rowland‘s reality competition, “Chasing Destiny”. We now how the first look at the show where Kelly is trying to build a girl group that can rival the success of her legendary trio, Destiny’s Child.
“There’s no specific elimination moments or things like that, this show is extremely organic” said Kelly in the clip posted on Instagram.
It’s no secret that the music industry has evolved since Kelly first began singing over 20 years ago. Even the most successful solo artists like Beyonce and Rihanna are pitted against each other in such a way that it seems as if everyone can’t reign at the same time; singers have to pick a certain time of year, when the other is on hiatus, in order not to flop.
While reality shows have helped girl groups like Fifth Harmony maintain an allegiance of fans, the group doesn’t have any similar competition. In the 90s, SWV, 702, TLC, Total, En Vogue, Xscape and more, all coexisted and had their own lane.
As a former judge on the “X Factor”, Kelly knows how to spot talent. “I don’t want reality stars, I want stars” she adds.
We’re rooting for Kelly’s show to be a success! Beauties, are you interested in watching “Chasing Destiny” when it premieres on BET on April 5th?
