Hot 97 Gets Dragged For Trolling: ‘Do Black Women Have An Attitude Problem?’

The folks at Hot 97 drew the ire of #BlackTwitter after tweeting, “Do black women have an attitude problem?” The offending tweet is gone, but people were frustrated that station would throw out a trite question based on a stereotype that generally never draws positive conversation.

Ebro was either trolling or didn’t really get it. He claimed that he was simply tackling stereotypes, and insinuated that this was the start of more discussions about stereotypes to follow.

The thing is, again, this question is based on an old and played out idea that unfortunately many people still believe, despite having examples that that line of thinking isn’t true. By now we know what tropes to bring up to get clicks, and that’s basically what happened.

And to make things worse, they posted a photo of our FLOTUS Michelle Obama, who is often unfairly criticized, to go with the line of questioning.

Good job at being counterproductive trolls.
