Uzo Aduba Raises Money Ahead Of Boston Marathon Run

Uzo Aduba has yet to hear the starting gun for the Boston Marathon, but she’s ahead of the game in her fundraising for the race!

The Orange Is The New Black star is hoping to promote cancer research as she runs for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on April 20. So far, she’s already drummed up $4,000, but the memory of losing loved ones–while fighting to keep others alive–is what’s fueling her in the 26.2-mile race.

“When I ran New York, there were four people in my life — one had passed, and three were battling cancer,” she told the Associated Press.”Now, today, there’s only one still fighting.”

Uzo added, “They ran a race much harder than mine.”

With the Boston Marathon coming up in less than two weeks, Uzo is getting more pumped up for the run each and every day.

“Marathon Monday, that’s what we call it,” she said. “It’s such a great tradition that we all love and are so proud to have in our city.”
