Viola Davis Talks About Growing Up In Poverty

We all know Viola Davis as the no-nonsense lawyer Annalise Keating on “How To Get Away With Murder,” but the actress recently showed her vulnerable side as she talked about growing up in poverty. Viola has admitted before that she grew up poor, but she gave more detail about her upbringing during her acceptance speech at Variety’s “Power Of Women” luncheon. She, along with Resse Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez, were honored for their humanitarian efforts.

“I was one of the 17 million kids in this country who didn’t know where the next meal was coming from and I did everything to get food,” Viola said. “I’ve stolen the food, I’ve jumped in huge garbage bins with maggots for food, I have befriended people in the neighborhood who I knew had mothers who cooked three meals a day for food and I sacrificed a childhood for food and grew up in immense shame.”

Viola works with “Hunger Is,” a campaign that builds awareness about hunger and poverty in the U.S. and said that she joined it to save herself. “I didn’t join the Hunger Is campaign to save the world. I didn’t,” she said. “I set out to save myself. You know, they say that you’re never too old to have a happy childhood and although my childhood was filled with many happy memories it was also spent in abject poverty.”

After allegedly throwing subliminal shots at Traci Braxton on Twitter about Traci’s singing ability, Tamar Braxton wants to clear the air. The tweet that was sent from Tamar’s account — “Do the Grammy’s have a duet with auto tune category yet? Cause…” — was deleted, but Tamar took to Twitter again to tell her fans that she would never disrespect her sisters. She even retweeted a picture of her and Traci Braxton at an event over the weekend when the tweet was sent.

Tamar says that Zo, Towanda and Toni’s assistant, told Traci that she tweeted the diss when she really didn’t. But, Zo threw all the shots at Tamar and her singing abilities as well.

This just got really messy.

It looks like Big Sean and Ariana Grande’s lovefest has gotten heavier. The two lovebirds, who were revealed as a couple in August when they were seen holding hands in backstage footage at the MTV VMAs, have been spending a lot of time together and even rocking matching lion necklaces! (you know it’s real when that happens..**inserts sarcasm**) But, the Roc Nation rapper isn’t ready to put a ring on it just yet, especially since he and his ex-fiance Naya Rivera called off their engagement in April.

“He wants it to be 100%,” a source said to The Hollywood Life. “They [Big Sean and Ariana] are in a honeymoon phase right now, but don’t expect any real honeymoons as they are both not ready to take it to that level. Big Sean wanted to be a husband with Naya, but once that went bust he is a little more gun shy when it comes to any future proposals.”

The two were also recently spotted kissing on a roller coaster and holding hands at the Horror Nights amusement park.
