Jeramey Anderson recently received the birthday gift of a lifetime! Along with celebrating 22 candles this December, the Tulane University senior was sworn into the Mississippi House of Representatives.
After taking 60 percent of the vote in a general election, the homeland security and public relations major became the youngest member of his home state’s legislative body. According to reports, Anderson made arrangements with his school’s dean to continue studies online while the House is in session.

The young politician has a passion for improving Mississippi’s education system, Sun Herald reports.
“We focus too highly on standardized testing,” he said. “We teach students to memorize the answers to specific questions and ideas, but what we don’t teach them is how is they got those answers. We need to get back to the foundation of understanding why things are what they are.”
