Black Comediennes Respond To Kenan Thompson
Dear Kenan Thompson, Black Comediennes Say They ARE Ready For ‘SNL’ [VIDEO]
A group of Black comediennes have responded to Kenan Thompson’s suggestion that Black women aren’t “ready” when they audition for “Saturday Night Live,” so therefore, none can be cast. “It’s just a tough part of the business,” Kenan explained. “Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready.”

But these funny Black women are proving Kenan wrong. They are READY! The women in the video are all comediennes who showcased some of the characters they could play if they were to be cast in the late night comedy sketch. From Tami Roman to Iyanla Vanzant to Whoopi, these women want Kenan to know that Black women are indeed ready to be a part of a show like “SNL.”
Instead of dressing their male characters in drag (which Kenan says he’s not doing any longer), maybe “SNL” should consider the plethora of hilarious Black women who fit the bill. Maybe “SNL” isn’t ready for us.
