Please give us some insight into your previous work experience:

Stacia: As a teen, I worked in retail for a little while in school for a clothing store and jewelry shop. When I was 18, I became a Beauty Control consultant. I went to a tea party with a friend and came back with a $500 make up kit. All of a sudden I was a beauty consultant. After a few weeks of hosting make up parties and making lots of money from home, while my friends were going to work every day, I soon realized I found what I love. I knew then that I would be an entrepreneur. From there I created my own makeup line, opened my own clothing store and launched an image and branding company with classes. Once I began writing books, it opened the door to speaking engagements. So, I launched into the speaking arena while running my companies. Eventually this grew into my coaching business for entrepreneurs.

Ariana: I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so my first real business experience was around 17 when I launched The Billionheir Girl’s Club. It was a club for girls to learn about etiquette, beauty, fashion and entrepreneurial skills. It included a line of fashionable accessories and T-shirts.

My motto behind The Billionheir Girl’s Club was to inspire young girls to live their dreams now and not later. I shared with them tools on how to succeed in school and even how to start their first business! As the business expanded, I decided that the information should not just be available to young girls but I had to share it with everyone. So I renamed the brand to The Billionheir’s Club and turned it into my blog where I now post about fashion and entrepreneurship.

HB: Briefly describe your day-to-day activities and responsibilities on your job/position.

Stacia: I start every morning with meditation time and writing in my journal. Though I’ve never been into fitness, I can honestly say I love the feeling and results of my daily morning run and workout and another run at night. Yes, I really do it every single day. When traveling, I run in the hotel fitness center or run in place in my room.

My daily activities are never the same after that so here’s a list of all the things I do:

I write a lot: for articles, my blog, products I’m creating and my new book. I also write notes for my speaking engagements usually once or twice a month and I write script outlines for STACIA TV, my online show and we record them twice a week.

I’m working on a web series right now, some days we’re taping all day and in different locations. I started my own production company four years ago and we’ve produced three DVD movies so far. Now, we’re taking things to a whole new level, I have a vision for creating very inspiring movies for women who love to lead and love their work!

I spend a lot of time coaching my clients, who are mainly entrepreneurs. My niche is helping entrepreneurs start or grow their business. To avoid burning out, I’ve created a system so I can handle a lot of clients at once.

I come from a fashion background so image and branding is a big part of my coaching process. I often incorporate my experience from owing a make-up line, clothing store and beauty salon, into my coaching to help clients package themselves and their products beautifully. Naturally, I also attract a lot of clients who are in the fashion and beauty industries, whom I’ve helped revitalize or ramp up their businesses to six-figures and beyond.

My daughter, Ariana, is carrying on the fashion and beauty torch as CEO of Superstar Nail Lacquer, a premier nail polish company as well as StyleShoppe.com, a jewelry company.

Ariana: As the CEO of Superstar Nail Lacquer, it is my job to not only run the company and make sure that each aspect of the business is running smoothly, but to ensure that our product reaches our target market. I do the social media and marketing for the brand as well as attend meetings to discuss partnerships and distribution with stores.

HB: Briefly describe what prompted your interest as an entrepreneur.

Stacia: My career stemmed from my Women’s Success Conference. At first, I was just an author and speaker, and then many people requested me to help them launch their businesses. After my conference each year, I was getting many letters and calls for private coaching. People wanted to know how to do what I was doing, profiting from my passion. I began with about 20 clients, showing them step-by-step how to discover their passion and monetize it for a profit. Eventually, I dubbed myself the queen of Passionpreneurs.

Once I started LifeCoach2Women.com, everything began to take off. We just launched the online business before we were really ready—but that’s what I teach. You can’t think too long, you have to get going on your new ideas while energy and excitement is high. The longer you wait, the more likely you’ll talk yourself right out of taking action. Only one month after we launched, we had grown to over 65 clients and it has been growing ever since.

Ariana: Seeing my grandfather and parents be entrepreneurs prompted me to want to do the same. I wanted to not only make money for myself and my future children, but once I became successful with Superstar Nail Lacquer, I felt that it was my duty to inspire other young individuals who may not have all the answers to becoming an entrepreneur.

HB: What suggestions regarding networking would you give to those seeking to work in these particular fields?

Stacia: I believe the key to success is getting out and making connections with people in your desired industry. In essence, to be considered, you have to be seen. Networking gets others talking about you. Plus, when you increase your visibility, you increase your opportunities. So, come from behind the computer and go out to events, social gatherings, conventions and conferences so you can meet the right people.

You are much more effective in face-to-face meetings than you are over the phone or online. That’s why showing up to events with industry insiders and influencers can be very beneficial to your success. Not only will you get great information to enhance your business and life, but you also get good contact and connections that can yield unlimited possibilities.

Ariana: For entrepreneurs, it is important to get your name out there! That means you cannot sit at home waiting for customers or clients, you have to go get them. Find out where your target market shops, dines, and the events they attend. Once you find out this information, go to these places and pass out your business cards. I suggest that you give out at least 10 business cards a day. Don’t go home until they are all given to someone. This is how you will stay relevant and customers will begin to flood to you. My mom always says that you must be seen, to be considered. This statement is so true! If no one knows about your brand, how can they be your client or customer? It’s about getting out there and sharing what great things your business has to offer to the world.

HB: What are the major challenges in your role as an entrepreneur and what solutions have you deemed best to handle these challenges?

Stacia: When you are starting out as a business owner, the biggest challenge is usually money. Yet, you can change that with your mindset. When you do a lot of planning, then act fast on those plans you can change your financial situation quickly.

I believe you attract what you focus on and give your energy to. I often focus on making money easily and effortlessly. Every day I say, “making money is easy!” This simple act of saying what I want, instead of talking about the problem, has changed my entire business around. Staying balanced and positive is the other challenge. However I have learned that routines help create balance. You have to do what you have to do really well so you can do what you want to do later.

Saying daily affirmations and taking time to pray & meditate is my success secret for handling challenges. When you speak and believe that you will get a positive outcome, you will get what you expect.

Ariana: When I first started Superstar Nail Lacquer, a major challenge was trying to convince established authorities in the beauty industry that I could handle running a large lacquer company and do business deals at the age of 18 at the same time. I had to meet with beauty editors, salons, and store-owners about distribution of Superstar Nail Lacquer in their shops. Building my confidence was key so that I could speak with assurance about my brand. Prayer and preparation were the two things that boosted my confidence in being a business owner. Before every meeting, I would meditate the night before on what I would say, how I would say it, and see the meeting turning out in my favor. Whenever I did this, things went awesome for me and my brand and I felt comfortable meeting with individuals twice my age because I had seen the outcome before it ever happened.

HB: Describe how it feels to work together as a mother/daughter unit.

Stacia: It’s a huge privilege and awesome opportunity to work with your child. We’re building a legacy for our future. She allows me to push her to become better and I’ve learned to allow her to express her ideas and new marketing techniques. I love the broad perspectives we both have. Ariana and I are both very opinionated & creative. It’s awesome to merge ideas or even challenge each other’s ideas to make them really fit the overall vision.

Ariana: I love working as a mother and daughter unit! It is refreshing to have my mother around to ask for guidance in business. I respect her business expertise and marketing skills. They have helped me produce a mega brand in just five years. I also think the mature and young feel mix well! We keep each other relevant with what’s happening and what’s hot for the brand.

HB: What would you attribute your level of success to?

Stacia: I contribute my success to my late father, Alfred Scott, who was a serial entrepreneur. He taught me to read to succeed and get curious about learning and discovering different ways to see the world. Books open you up to “aha” moments, lead you into new territories, and connect you with purposeful people. My father also taught me to always have something to sell. Inside of us is our money-making moxie. We all have been gifted with a money-making skill. You have something around you, in you that can be turned into cash. Most of the time we don’t have a money problem but an idea problem. My dad always said, stop sitting on someone’s solution. Somebody needs what you are supposed to sell.

Ariana: I would contribute my level of success to hard work and dedication to the brand. I decided that I would sacrifice some fun now to live the life that I wanted later. It’s all about being focused and seeing the bigger picture. When you have a vision for how you want your business to be and you have goals, it makes the work fun because you know where you are going. That’s exactly what I did and still do. I have a vision, I have goals, and I have a plan for my business and for success. I know the reward is much greater than the sacrifice so I’m determined to win.

HB: Any advice for younger colleagues?

Stacia: Research your business ideas. Be sure it is relevant and can make a profit in your business. You are in business to profit. Set goals continuously. Always keep a vision of where you want to go before you and how you plan to get there. Enjoy the journey, take as much ground as you can and don’t worry about what others think, follow your gut instinct. Become a conscious entrepreneur. Do your business from your heart and learn to market and sell what you have consistently.

Ariana: I would say start by setting goals and getting a vision for your life. Where do you see yourself five or 10 years from now? Make a list, stick to it, tweak it as you grow and don’t stop until you accomplish what you’ve set out to do. I have three steps that I always tell young individuals who want to be an entrepreneur or who want success in any area of their life.

  1. Research your craft or industry. Make sure that it is something you really love doing. Ask yourself, would you still do this if you never got paid a day in your life? This is a key to what you really love and your purpose in life.
  2. Make a vision board of what you want for your life and business. Whether it’s to be an entertainer, a shoe designer, or run a Fortune 500 company, create a vision board of what you see for it. Cut out pictures of what you desire and paste them down on your board. It’s a fact that what you continuously see and focus on becomes your reality. So if you are focused and seeing your dream life, you have no choice but to attract those things to you.
  3. Find a mentor or success coach to guide you. It is so much easier to follow in the footsteps of those who have already succeeded then to try and figure it out all on your own. Find someone who will lead you in the right direction and show you how to make your business a success. Look up to those in your industry and follow their pattern by remaining teachable and watch your business soar!
