I’ve been underwhelmed by Beyonce‘s latest music releases. Her highly anticipated song “Grown Woman” wasn’t quite what I was hoping for from the “Mrs. Carter” album, I guess I was expecting it to be a little more personal and about love like her first solo album. However, King Bey isn’t one to let her fans down. “Rise Up,” the official Bey song of the animated film “Epic” which she stars as queen of the forest, is a remedy for my discontent. The Sia-penned soundtrack lead is a triumphant ballad that, of course, showcases Beyonce’s amazing vocal ability.
“Rise Up” reminds us of all the great Disney, animated, cartoon, feel good childhood film songs that have come before the “Epic” jam. Journey with us, through the past as we reminisce on these throwback jams!
