I’m not professional (yet!)
As a rising Junior in college, majoring in Psychology, I cannot help but feel bad for Amanda Bynes, who I feel needs psychological help. She has gone completely off the wall, from tweeting insults at Rihanna, to throwing a bong out of the window on the 36th floor of her apartment.
I feel sadness when I think about some of my favorite movies she starred in, “She’s the Man,” “Hairspray,” “Sydney White,” and many more in the early 2000s. It is my sincerest opinion that she must receive help, and once she does, will have the capability to be back on her feet!
These are some of the disorders, from which I think she may be suffering:
Schizophrenia
When looking at this picture of Amanda Bynes with her newly pierced dimples, intense make up, and “creepy” eyes, it is clear she has been in a disorganized and catatonic state, meaning it seems to be as though she is in a daze and and not thinking before her actions, which are some of the main symptoms of Schizophrenia.
Bipolar Disorder
We have all heard about the tweet Amanda sent to Rihanna, stating, “Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.” After tweeting that, she posted an image of the two of them, explaining how much she loves Rihanna. In my opinion, this describes Bipolar Disorder, because I see dramatic and unpredictable mood swings, which are one of the leading symptoms in this particular mental disorder.
Personality Disorder
Amanda tweeted a disturbing post describing how ugly her father is, and how she’s glad that she looks nothing like him. She also mentions how happy she is with her nose job. This text was full of anger and showed, in my opinion, that Amanda has trouble controlling her impulses. Angry outbursts and poor impulse control are both key factors when diagnosing Personality Disorder.
Schizotypical Personality Disorder
Amanda’s messy, long, frizzy, blonde wig is practically infamous and a sign of Schizotypical Personality Disorder, due to the fact that she is dressing in a peculiar manner. Another example would be when she threw a bong out of the window of her apartment. Keep in mind, she lives on the 36th floor.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
In this picture, we see Amanda Bynes with her lawyer. She has been arrested for many crimes such as: driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, accused of a hit and run, and posting a tweet saying, “I want Drake to murder my vagina.” Recurring difficulties with the law is a main symptom in Antisocial Personality Disorder. Other symptoms include: disregard for the safety of self or others, and repeatedly violating the rights of others; these crimes seem to fit these two symptoms as well.
