With Mother’s Day right around the corner, it’s only right that we take the time to pay tribute to some of our favorite television moms who keep us glued to our television screens each week. These women make it clear that they’re a strong force in their children’s lives and don’t plan to “step down from the throne” anytime soon. Take a look at some of our favorite “Mamas” below. Happy Mother’s Day!

Momma Dee

We were first introduced to Scrappy’s mom, Momma Dee, on the first season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” and she’s been showing us just how ride-or-die she really is ever since. While self proclaiming herself the Queen of the South and drilling the phrase “in that order” into our heads, she’s made it clear that she doesn’t plan to step down from the “throne” anytime soon. A woman of many talents, Mama Dee is proud to say she did what she had to do in order to provide for her children even if it included singing, modeling, nursing, catering and an occasional pimping. Although Momma Dee has had her share of ratchet moments, you can’t help but to appreciate her presence, especially the way she expresses her love for her prince, Scrappy. It’s obvious that Mama Dee only wants what’s best for her son even though she might have a “ratchet” way of expressing it. Whether it be screaming at Erica for “leaving her son for dead,” bringing Shay to the studio in attempts to make Scrappy fall in love with her, letting us know who’s the real “b.i.c.t.h” or letting the world know that Scrappy is and will always be the Prince of the South, one thing is for sure: Mama Dee ain’t going anywhere!

Erica’s Mom, Minon

Erica Dixon briefly introduced us to her mom on the first season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” but this season, we’ve gotten to know Minon a little more intimately. Erica expressed her hurt that her mom wasn’t around for most of her childhood, but since Minon has been present on the show, she’s been apart of Erica’s life every step of the way. From Erica’s break-ups and make- ups with Scrappy, to talking to Scrappy one on one in an attempt to finally accept him as her future son-in-law to having her daughter’s back during the family dinner with Scrappy and Mama Dee that turned pretty ugly pretty fast, Minon showing Erica that she’s here to stay!

Mama Jones

We’re all too familiar with Nancy Jones a.k.a Mama Jones, the mother of Jim Jones and friend/enemy to his fiancé, Chrissy. Mama Jones and Chrissy have had a rocky relationship for years but one thing they both have in common is their love for Jimmy. While Mama Jones was busy being involved in her son’s relationship life and making Chrissy’s life miserable, she was also recording songs, selling “phsychotic” t-shirts and creating her new fragrance, “Poon-Kash.” Mama Jones is not only a ride-or-die mother, she’s also business savvy and after intense couple years, fights and make-ups with Chrissy, she’s also can be a pretty good friend.

Mama Braxton

Mama Braxton is the Queen of all the reality show mothers just for raising the Braxton girls and dealing with Tamar’s mouth everyday! She’s instilled great values of love, family and respect in her girls but won’t hesitate to “slap the piss” out of any of them at any given time for getting out of line. Mama Braxton is a huge part of each of her daughter’s lives and for that reason, her girls honor and respect her opinion on everything. Mama Braxton won’t let her girls age her, and she’s been known to get her groove on an episode of “Braxton Family Values” or two with a couple of hot dates from some young guys looking to get their cradle robbed! One thing is for sure; Mama Braxton is definitely the backbone of the Braxton family!

Frankie

We haven’t heard from her in a while, but who could forget the outspoken character known as Frankie a.k.a Keyshia Cole’s mother. We were first introduced to Frankie on “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is” and witnessed Frankie, Keyshia and Keyshia’s sister, Neffie, attempt to rekindle their broken relationship on television. Frankie was very vocal about her drug addiction on the show, her willingness to get help and most importantly, her desire to start a new life with her daughters. Although we saw a lot of ups and downs between Frankie and Keyshia, including a period when the two stopped speaking to each other, it was obvious that Frankie was extremely proud to be Keyshia Cole’s mother. When she wasn’t coining the phrase, “man down”, and making us laugh every week while we watched her reality show, she was trying her hand at being mother, grandmother and friend to her daughter’s, her grandchildren and anyone’s life she touched.

Joe Budden’s Mom

Joe Budden’s mother didn’t make too many appearances on ‘”Love & Hip Hop” this year, but when she did, she was meeting with Joe and his ex/current girlfriend Tahiry in regards to his addiction to drugs. Joe’s mom made it clear that she wasn’t going to stop confronting her son until he was 100% clean and would do whatever it took to get her son back on the right track. Joe speaks on the support of his mother often, stating that it was her love and strength that helped him overcome his addiction. As a former drug user herself, Joe’s mom was probably the best person in Joe’s life to attempt to break his addiction. Aside from helping Joe with his drug addiction, Joe’s mom could also be responsible for helping Joe realize his true love in Tahiry as it was her idea to recruit Tahiry to help Joe break from his drug addiction in the first place. Either way, kudos to Joe’s mother for saving him!

Rich Dollaz Mom, Jewel

Jewel (Rich Dollaz’s mother) is another favorite of ours just because she knows how to call “b.s.” when she sees it. Jewel was very vocal about her son’s romantic relationship with his “artist” Erica Mena and only wanted one thing: for her to disappear. Jewel confronted Rich many times about his relationship, stating that Erica was not only crazy but would ruin his career. Jewel also called Erica a gold digger and a user and told Rich that she would walk all over him if he didn’t tighten up. Of course, Rich didn’t listen at first until he got played by the former video vixen on more than one occasion.  Eventually, Rich came to his senses and ended everything with Erica, proving that Jewel was right in her accusations and that mama ALWAYS knows best!
