Oprah Winfrey is throwing her arms around the aging process and enjoying everyday as a 59-year-old woman.
During a photo shoot for the May issue of O Magazine, the media mogul said it drives her nuts when people are afraid of aging.
“People get all screwed up and afraid of aging when in fact each year should be a celebration. You should be celebrating each year that you are given,” she said. “That’s why I don’t understand women lying about their age and everybody dreading getting older. It means you are still here and you’re still vibrant. It makes me nuts that people get crazy about it!”

Let’s take a look at 5 other celebs who are embracing their age and celebrating each birthday gracefully.
1. Halle Berry Talks Her Beauty Icons
“When I think of beauty icons, I think of women that are successful and strong and, because of those attributes, they are beautiful. I think about people like Tina Turner, who is gorgeous. I also think about Audrey Hepburn—she was beautiful and as she got older, she embraced aging and didn’t do things to disfigure her face and look like somebody else. Beauty is about daring to grow old gracefully, having an inner confidence, and embracing yourself at every stage of your life. That’s what I find beautiful, and I hope I’ll be that way,” she said.
2. Denzel Washington on Enjoying Life at Any Age
“I went through a phase where I was sick of acting, I didn’t want to do it anymore, I was bored with it and then I tried directing a movie and I was like: ‘Shoot, get back over there!’ It made me appreciate acting more,” he said. “When I turned 50, I looked in the mirror and I thought: ‘Hey, this isn’t the dress rehearsal, this is life and I don’t know how much longer I’m going to have…’ And even if I live for another 50 years I probably won’t remember the last 20 or 30 of them anyway.”
3. Tina Turner on Being Fearless
“The main reason I’ve stayed looking good is that I’ve spent 40 years doing the most intensive stage workouts ever,” she said. “Women should be proud of who they are at any stage in their lives. If you look good and can still do it, then do it.”
4. Angela Bassett Share Beauty Secrets
“I’m fighting the good fight when it comes to aging,” she said. “Honestly, I just try to keep smiling. A smile holds everything up.”
5. Iman Defines Her Own Beauty
“Commercial beauty doesn’t interest me. A woman who is 50 can be as attractive as a girl who is 17, as long as she recognizes her own strengths. For example, as a young girl, I was much more preoccupied by my flaws. Everyone teased me because of my long, skinny neck. To hide my so-called deformity, I was wearing a turtleneck when I was 3! Yet, my neck is probably my best asset. At the end of the day, what counts is the entire package,” she said.
