While Durante was touring the world, sports fans have taken to call Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant “Durantula,” and Mark Durante became suing-mad when he found out. According to court documents, Durante alleges he reached out to Kevin Durant’s camp asking them to stop using the moniker, but they told Durante they weren’t using the nickname at all. Durante claims Nike used “Durantula” to promote a sneaker campaign and KD signed a few basketballs using the name which were sold on his website.
Mark Durante says he registered the “Durantula” trademark and is suing for unspecified damages. Durante also is seeking an injunction which would bar the Oklahoma City baller from using the nickname. Nike and Kevin Durant have yet to respond to the suit and haven’t commented to the media about the situation yet.
