Beyonce is 30 years old, and if her age seems surprising, it’s because the R&B superstar has grown up before our eyes. The Houston native first made her name—then Beyonce Knowles—as a teenager in the ‘90s, when she was a member of Destiny’s Child. Now, she’s all grown up. She’s married to Jay-Z, who’s 42 years old, and in January 2012, she gave birth to a daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. On Sept. 4, 2012, she’ll turn 31 years old.

As a 30-year-old, Beyonce is neither the youngest nor the oldest pop star on the scene. While Drake (25), Nicki Minaj (29), Tyga (22), and Ciara (26) are younger, Kanye West (34), Brandy (33), Monica (31), and Mary J. Blige (41) are older.
And as Aaliyah once sang, age ain’t nothing but a number. Then again, Beyonce has no reason to sweat 30. She’s accomplished a tremendous amount, and after selling more than 40 million albums with Destiny’s Child and racking up major sales with her four solo albums, the Sasha Fierce songstress has amassed a personal fortune estimated to at $300 million. Adding in Jay-Z’s money, the couple is reportedly worth $775 million. Before long, “B” won’t just be short for Beyonce; it’ll stand for billionaire.
