Angela Bassett To Introduce Ava Duvernay’s “Middle Of Nowhere” At LA Film Festival [VIDEO]
“Middle of Nowhere is a love story. It’s a complicated love story,” Ava Duvernay–the film’s creator says of her latest effort. It’s an epidemic that effects us all, especially in communities of color. Women are left alone by their incarcerated men to live out their lives, raise their children and survive without the head of the household’s physical presence. You may think you know this story, but Duvernay’s film is attempting to show you a side of this story that you haven’t seen or heard before.
At this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival, Hollywood heavyweight, Angela Bassett is set to introduce Duvernay’s “Middle of Nowhere.” The event will bring out a slew of stars (Regina King, Nate Parker, Mara Brock Akil, Courtney B. Vance, Goapele, Lauren London and Wendy Raquel Robinson to name-drop a few) to celebrate Duvernay as it’s the first time the film will be seen since January’s Sundance–which is where Duvernay won the U.S. Directing Award.
