Viola Davis Renewed Her Wedding Vows In Beautiful Ceremony

Viola Davis got married for the third time!

While some of us were going on dinner dates and keeping it cozy on Valentine’s Day, Davis, 50 and her husband, Julius Tennon, 62 renewed their vows in front of family and friends for the third time since their 2003 wedding. The How to Get Away with Murder actress shared all the photos from the event.

For the occasion Davis and her daughter, Genesis, wore custom Carmen Marc Valvo pearl colored dresses. Davis chose a design with silk and embroidered petals and glass bugle beads.

“This dress shape fits my body type the best,” the actress said about her choice. “It accentuates my waist. It’s dramatic, timeless, and romantic. I wanted something that made a statement when I walked in the room but also that didn’t look like I was trying too hard.”

When she first married Tennon 13 years ago, Davis admits to wearing an Express skirt for their nuptials. Now, the couple can enjoy reflecting on their personal and professional growth.

“I wanted an experience of feeling alive,” she told InStyle about the occasion. “There’s no better way to feel what life is truly about than the birth of a child and getting married to someone you love—really love. It’s a reminder. A wake up. My career is about success but my marriage and my life is about significance.”

Adding, “I’ve learned that it’s not always about you. Marriage is a dying to yourself, but [also this] renewing and being born into a state of commitment, of understanding the value of partnership in life.”

In attendance was Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King and former ‘HTGAWM’ cast mate Tom Verica. From the exclusive photos on TheYBF, it looks like everyone had a ball. Love was truly in the air.
