Issa Rae’s story is proof why you should never give up.
After facing a few setbacks, the star of the popular Youtube series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl has found a home on HBO for her comedy pilot Insecure.
The show will focus on Issa’s character and her best friend Molly (Yvonne Orji) as they navigate their professional and dating lives. The handsome Jay Ellis landed the role of Molly’s unemployed boyfriend while Lisa Joyce rounds out the cast as Issa’s co-worker.
Issa will co-produce the series with Larry Wilmore of Comedy Central’s The Tonight Show, so expect plenty of laughs.
