After defending her friend Bill Cosby, despite it being revealed Cosby admitted, in 2005, to purchasing Quaaludes with the intent of drugging women for sex, Whoopi admits the beloved comedian’s behavior points to guilt. No sh*t.
Whoopi, who has a history of defending anyone and anything, had a change of heart after legal analyst Dan Abrams explained to her, the alleged victims can not take Cosby to court because the statute of limitations on each rape case has run out.
“I can’t say anymore ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ I can’t say that anymore, because there’s no way to prove it,” she said during a ‘View’ segment with Abrams.
“I always thought that rape cases were open-ended,” Whoopi said. “You’re saying that all that is left to these women is the court of public opinion.”
Finally, she admitted, “If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I got to say all of the information that’s out there kind of points to guilt.”
Like Jill Scott, it took Cosby’s confession to sway their once steadfast stances. Both women received backlash for their unpopular opinions on the case, it just took Whoopi longer to come around. It’s unfortunate it took a confession from Cosby to get her to consider the allegations against him.
Cosby is constantly losing supporters. NBC cancelled their show with him. Netflixx stepped back from ‘The Cosby Show’ and TV Land pulled reruns of the popular sitcom.
Victims are demanding the full deposition be released. We can only imagine what details will surface if that happens.
