Ugh: Miguel Explains Why He’s Not Ready For Marriage After 10-Year Relationship

Miguel’s been with his girlfriend Nazanin Mandi for about 10 years, and he’s still not ready to marry her just yet.

Happy couples have been dancing to his hit “Adorn” at their weddings since 2012, but it may be a while before it ever plays on his big day. The crooner revealed to Hot 97 during a recent interview that he takes marriage very seriously, and he’s not taking that leap lightly.

“I think it’s more about working. The thing is, you got to know who you are as a person, first of all. I think I’ve come so far as a man and I’m just starting to feel solid where I can be like, ‘You know what? I think I can hold this down legitimately.’ I think now people throw things around like marriage. I just wasn’t raised like that.”

It was rumored a couple of years ago that they’d gotten engaged, but he still hasn’t popped the question after a decade together. From what Miguel told Hot 97, he’s in no rush to do it, either, because he wants the timing to be just right.

“I don’t feel pressure because I know that when I commit, I really commit. Now it’s just thrown around because it’s so easy to breakup,” Miguel said. “I’m just not that kind of person. I’m just not gonna do that. I wouldn’t do that to her. That’s just not how I was raised. I just don’t feel like that would be honorable.”

The major thing holding him back right now seems to be that he’s not done sowing his oats–even though he’s been in an on-and-off relationship with Nazanin.

“I’m wild at heart. I just follow my instincts and that’s what this album is about,” the singer said, adding that her tolerance of his behavior has only deepened his affection. “I think she’s learned that and she’s had to adjust and had to learn and also embrace. And I love her more for that.”

And right there is where the bs kicks in. Miguel had us up until this last statement. Marriage is a very serious thing that should only be entered into by people that are fully ready to commit. But his excuse of being “wild at heart” makes it sound like he’s really not done sleeping around with all of the women available to him.

This sounded a little suspect to Hot 97, too. When one of the personalities asked whether he was regularly stepping out on Nazanin, Miguel slyly answered, “I just know I’m wild at heart, man.”

If he’s not done fooling around, Nazanin should probably do herself a favor and find a man that’s ready to commit to her.
