Black Man Shot By Baltimore Police
Conflicting Reports Surface On Alleged Shooting In Baltimore
Conflicting reports surfaced Monday about a shooting that took place in Baltimore. The official Twitter account for the city’s police department said Monday that a Black man had been shot “multiple times” by police. According to reports, the shooting took place in the same area as the Baltimore uprising in support of Freddie Gray.
Several news outlets, including Fox News, reported the shooting. CNN and ABC7, however, claimed no one was shot.
Baltimore police have since tweeted that it’s not true:
According to reports, the man was fleeing police, but it wasn’t immediately clear why officers were pursuing the suspect. It’s unclear what prompted the shooting. A Fox News crew witnessed a young Black male running from police before he was shot and that witness said that no words were exchanged between officers and the man, whom she described as “young” and possibly in his teens.
Baltimore residents and uprising supporters gathered around the man, who was on a stretcher as he was loaded into an ambulance.
It’s not known whether the unidentified man was armed. A gun was reportedly found nearby on a sidewalk.
