Tragic News: Syracuse University Athlete Found Dead In Times Square Hotel Room

What has supposed to be the beginning of a fun Spring Break trip turned into a tragedy. At just 21-years-old, Sabrina Cammock was found unresponsive and declared dead inside her Times Square Hotel Edison room on Saturday around 9:20 a.m.

Investigators haven’t detected any foul play, but the beautiful Queens, NY native did not wake up after falling asleep in the hotel room with her friends. The girls had gone out the night before and were sharing a hotel room together. The New York Post claims, “There were no signs of trauma on Cammock’s body, according to police sources.”

This is terribly sad as Cammock was a senior at the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University, studying public health and policy. She was a skilled 60-meter to 400-meter track sprinter, having previously broken the school’s the 4×100-meter relay in 2014. Also, she had secret gift as an talented singer. The video above shows her singing a pop tune.

Her track coaches Sue Edson and Chris Fox shared a word of condolences in a statement saying, “Sabrina was a wonderful and remarkable person and student athlete. Our team and coaching staff are devastated by her loss. All of our thoughts are with Sabrina’s family and friends.”

Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz, The Dean of Student Affairs informed the student body through a sincere letter, sent via email, “We mourn as a campus community with all those whose lives Sabrina touched.” Syracuse University is offering counseling to those that are grieving.
