Girl Bye: GOP Staffer Resigns After Making Classless Comments About Malia & Sasha

After being eviscerated by social media for the better part of the Thanksgiving holiday, Republican Congressional aide, Elizabeth Lauten has reportedly resigned. If you were too busy eating leftovers to notice, Lauten wrote a Facebook status urging the first daughters to “show a little class and respect”at the traditional pardoning of the White House turkey. She quickly deleted the comment and posted an apology. Lauten deleted the apology post as well. Before this incident, Lauten had been the communications director for Tennessee Rep. Steven Fincher since 2013.

This woman had to have done this rant purposefully. If you work for the government or for a politician, anything that you say via social media is scrutinized. Well honestly, even if you don’t work for the government, your social media accounts are still scrutinized. And if anything is looked at with a fine-tooth comb, it’s comments regarding the children of the President. She’s lucky she was able to quit today because if she worked for me, she would’ve been fired before Thanksgiving dinner was put on the table.
