Aaliyah’s Family Boycotts Biopic
Can’t say we didn’t see this coming…
It hasn’t been a week since Lifetime announced that Zendaya Coleman was cast as Aaliyah in the biopic, “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B,” and folks are up in arms about the production. According to TMZ, Barry Hankerson, Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager, is against the film because the network did not contact the family about the movie. Therefore, they are blocking Lifetime from using any of her music which would be impossibly hard if they don’t have publishing rights. They’ve also hired a lawyer in an attempt to block the release completely.
Like Whitney Houston’s family, they also feel that a TV movie is too small of a screen for an entertainer of her caliber. We’re not saying, they shouldn’t be upset, we’re still having trouble understanding why the network wouldn’t contact the family prior to making any announcement, but it took years for a Nina Simone movie to begin production and her career began in the 50s.
The Aaliyah family also protested Drake’s production of a posthumous Aaliyah album for the same reason–they weren’t contacted.

In additional telepic news, Michael K. Williams will co-star alongside Queen Latifah in the HBO TV Movie “Bessie.” Mo’Nique, Khandi Alexander and Charles S. Dutton signed on with Dee Rees, the film’s resident director, to write and direct the pic that will chronicle the singers rise to fame despite her turbulent love life.
The TV film will be produced by HBO Films in association with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere’s Flavor Unit Entertainment and Lili and Richard Zanuck’s the Zanuck Company.

T.I. may be in the headlines for cheating on his wife, but there’s one thing he will not tolerate… anyone disrespecting his family. Oh.
T.I. visited Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” this morning where he spoke on the never-ending beef between he and Azealia Banks. We know your days don’t revolve around T.I. and Tiny news, so let us refresh your memory. T.I. dropped a song “No Mediocre” where he basically disses all us regular females who can’t afford a Benz or live in the gym. Azealia Banks tweeted “U want no mediocre but… Have you seen your wife?” Oh not she didn’t!
Wrong move. When T.I. was on the “Breakfast Club” hot seat and revealed that he has a no tolerance policy when it comes to speaking negatively about his family and Azealia Banks better watch her step because there are “sharks out there.”
We used to be here for T.I., but we’re going to need for him to have a seat.

Kevin Hart hates roller coasters and not because he’s barely over the “you have to be this tall to ride this ride” ruler. Hart, who’s promoting his film “Think Like A Man Too,” stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” where he faced his fear of riding roller coasters at the Universal Orlando theme park in Florida.
When Fallon first asked Kevin about roller coasters, the funny man responded, “You know damn well I don’t like no roller coasters.” Lol. “Think like a man, we gotta act like a man!” Fallon retorted.
Well, Kevin put on his big boy pants and “manned up.” Check out what happened when Kevin rode one of the park’s biggest and fastest roller coaster. It’s pretty freakin’ hilarious.

Jennifer Hudson better just do it! After dropping some pounds, toning it up and revamping her image, the “Walk It Out” singer is ready to flaunt her new bod. Last night, while we were all catching up on some much-needed sleep, J. Hud was in Mexico wearing this teeny weeny bikini.
“It would take mexico to get me to play on the beach ! I’m so not that girl ! But I work hard , I deserve it right ! Plus, I earned it,” she wrote.

Now that Diddy and his girlfriend Cassie made their relationship public (a.k.a he claims her on Instagram), it looks like they’ll be making another announcement very soon. Cassie posted a photo on her Instagram that has fans wondering if the “Me & You” singer is preggers! The typically thin model, looked rather bloated in the pic that she posted on Instagram.
When Cassie realized that she looked several months pregnant in the photo, she took it down, cropped it then re-uploaded it, sans the belly. The caption, “True love is attainable,” doesn’t help either.
Speaking of baby bumps, Kelly Rowland, who recently appeared in her Destiny’s Child sister Michelle’s video “Say Yes,” tried to hide her baby bump in a pair of high waist pants on stage with Fantasia at the Hollywood Bowl recently.
