I love fitness fashion but with so many options available on shelves today I know it’s easy for my fellow fitness fashionistas to be clueless about what to wear at the gym. Well, the best gear to workout in is based on your body type and luckily there are plenty of chic options, no matter what shape you have, so we can all keep it cute and comfortable.  Whether you’ve been blessed on top or bottom, with muscles or curves,  read below for the best tips to use when shopping for new additions to your workout wardrobe.

If You Are A Bottom Heavy Beauty

Having more junk in you trunk is a blessing not a curse if you ask me, but when it comes to finding the perfect workout pants having a bigger butt can be a nightmare. I mean for real, there is nothing worse than mooning your trainer during burpees!  To cover up, yet still flatter, I love Champion Authentic Women’s Jersey Banded Knee Pants. Because these capris have a drawstring, just about all bountiful rumps can rock them comfortably. Plus, black is a good, flattering go-to color…although that doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

Use the top layer to play with color and fun cuts (which will also help draw all the hot boy’s eyes that were checking you out, toward your face). I love The Mesh Back Tank from 15love.  The cut of the print and color blocked top is super flattering since its panelling is creates the illusion (or draws attention to) a small waist. And for the days when you want to bare all, The Show Off Sports Bra by Champion®, is a supportive sports bra perfect for FitGirls rocking anywhere from a B – C cup, that’s cute to boot!

Quick Tips:

Down below think…

Dark is flattering.

Drawstrings only.

Up top think…

Bright fun colors.

Panelling and structure fits accentuate the waist.

To all my voluptuous ladies the key is to flatter not hide your bountiful bosom. First stop: the perfect sports bra. The structure of the Panache Underwire Sports Bra is supportive yet not restricting, so if you are looking for comfort and control then this bra is for you. For your top layer go for loose (not baggy) tops such as the Champion Balance™ Two-Layer Women’s Tank. This affordable yet fashionable find is perfect for larger busts because it has two layers that help cover up, without being too baggy.

Now to your “ass-set” – your lower body. Have fun here! I love the Blossoms Be Free Knicker from Athleta. While a pumped-up version of black is shown here, definitely don’t be afraid to go crazy with color. A bright or print bottom will pull focus from your chest to your chiseled legs, so play with prints this season and enjoy!

Quick Tips:

Down below think…

Prints and bright colors.

The bolder the better.

Up top think…

Supportive yet sexy.

Loose not baggy.

You are in luck, because retailers like Lane Bryant have you all the way covered. Lane Bryant’s constantly updated fitness line is not only cute, but affordable and functional too. Next time you’re in the one stop fashion stop, there are some great products to look out for.

The perfect sports bra is essential for eliminating jumping jugglers and the Sport by Cacique Front Close Sport Bra is built with plenty of support. With underwire and thick straps, it keeps everything tucked in, while still being comfy. Once your twins are in place, top off the lookwith this inspirational tank and invite instant motivation to your next sweat session. P.S. This loose and long racerback top is also cute with cut off jeans and sandals too.

Now on to what to wear down below. The number one complaint plus size sweaters have is too much movement down below while working out. Well, if you buy another pair of black workout pants make sure they are the Legging With Tummy Control pants from Lane Bryant. These winning pairs are instantly slimming due to built-in control top and strategically placed seams. Happy jiggle free sweating to you!

Athletic builds are common in the gym yet often times misstyled if you ask me. I am this body type, so I know. My large muscular thighs thoroughly appreciate Lycra (as denim is hard to get along with), however many athletically built FitGirls (including myself) always wear black bottoms. To that, I say “flaunt it, don’t hide it!” Prints are appealing when done right which is why I love this boldly printed capris from Adidas.  Since the base color is black and all the other colors are bold and dark, AOP Capri – Women’s it is just as slimming as all my black leggings. In fact many people stop me in between reps to find out where I got them from.

When it comes to my upper body — the area I love to show off — I go for arm revealing and form-fitting options always. I absolutely adore the Ruched Sweetheart Tank from 15love. It’s the most flattering and figure hugging bra top I’ve seen in a long time. The ruching along the torso draws attention to a small waist and the heart shape top supports my B cup very nicely. I love how I don’t have to wear a sports bra with this! The built-in bra is super supportive and since the straps are adjustable I can create the perfect fit every time I wear it.

Quick Tips:

Down below think…

Break away from black.

Bold colored prints are super flattering.

Up top think…

Built in bras with adjustable straps are the move.
