Black & Sexy TV’s “The Couple” Lands HBO Development Deal
It’s only January and 2014 has already proven to be a major year in the world of Black web series. “Dear White People” wowed audiences at the Sundance Festival this week, and now, Black & Sexy TV’s “The Couple” is headed to HBO.
According to reports, the popular Web series, created by Jeanine Daniels and Dennis Dortch, recently landed a TV development deal with the powerhouse cable network. Rumor is filmmaker Spike Lee also signed on as executive producer of the new venture.

Star Numa Perrier described this oppuritny as a dream come true. “Our vision is to become a household name with a full slate of original programming,” the actress told the Washington Post. “Select TV partnerships with companies we respect and understand us creatively are one of the pieces to building that.”
If you’re not familiar with the series, “The Couple” follows a young Black couple as they hilariously balance dating and living together. Check out the first episode, which has received over 200,000 views, below.
