Amber Ruffin Becomes 1st Black Female Writer In Late-Night Talk
BEAUTIFUL NEWS: Amber Ruffin Becomes First Black Female Writer In Late-Night Talk Show History
Seth Meyers recently left “Saturday Night Live” to host his own late-night talk show, and luckily for writer and comedienne Amber Ruffin, the former “Weekend Update” host followed in the footsteps of his previous employer.
According to reports, the funny man hired Ruffin to join the writing team for “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” making her the first Black woman to write for a network late night talk show — ever!
Ruffin isn’t a stranger to the comedy world. Last month, she was a part of SNL’s “secret” black women-only auditions, and she’s an iO Theater alum and former Second City performer.

“Well, well, well,” Cecily Strong, Meyer’s former SNL co-anchor, tweeted to Ruffin. “That sneaky Seth got you for himself! See you soon and congrats!!!”
“Yes! We are neighbors!” Ruffin replied. (There’s only a 30-feet distance from Meyer’s old NBC studio to his new Late Night studio.)
Meyers’ highly-antipated show premieres Feb. 24. Congrats, Amber Ruffin!
