Paris Hilton totally knows who Nelson Mandela is! We think…

Yesterday after the announcement broke that Nelson Mandela, the South African anti-apartheid leader, had passed away a tweet allegedly from Paris Hilton began to make its way around social media. The tweet in question (see below) appeared to come from heiress Paris Hilton’s verified Twitter page, but (before you pull out your shotgun) the tweet was fake!

Paris clarified things on her Twitter account, saying:

See, she totally knows!

President Obama gave a heartfelt speech yesterday in honor of Nelson Mandela’s legacy and he will venture to Mandela’s native land, South Africa to pay his final respect to the anti-apartheid hero.

“President Obama and the First Lady will go to South Africa next week to pay their respects to the memory of Nelson Mandela and to participate in memorial events. We’ll have further updates on timing and logistics as they become available,” said a statement by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
