Paula Patton has it all: beauty, brains, a super sexy husband, an adorable son and to top it off, an amazing career and tons of men drooling over her. With the upcoming release of her new movie, “Baggage Claim,” she’s at the top of her game and leaving all of us wondering just how she does it! While doing press runs for her new movie, Paula caught up with theYBF.com to dish on the film and give a married woman’s advice to all of us single folk.
Here are five womanly lessons learned from Paula Patton.
1. Don’t Look For True Love
I’m sure many of you are scratching your head in confusion but if you really think about this statement, it makes a lot of sense. A lot of times, women go into the dating scene looking for that “true love” and searching for that man that’s “going to marry you” and end up forcing a relationship instead of just letting it happen organically. If it’s anything I’ve learned from this dating game, it’s that a forced relationship is doomed for failure in more ways than one. Take advice from Paula: “don’t look for your true love. Don’t look for a man that’s going to marry you. That’s not going to do you any good. Once you get the pretty ring and the party, there is a marriage part you have to think about.”
2. Know Yourself And Enjoy Your Life, Alone
This piece of advice is so important! Before you can jump into a marriage or a serious relationship with someone, you have to know and accept yourself, inside and out! It’s important to enjoy your life as a single woman before enjoying your life with your partner. Be spontaneous, enjoy time with your girlfriends, read a great book, travel and explore!

3. Don’t Spy
Okay, ladies this might be a tough pill to swallow but spying on your husband, boyfriend or significant other is just no good. Sure, we’ve all done it in the past but 9 times out of 10 the outcome was not pretty. As Paula says, “a lot of bad things can happen when you go on someone’s property uninvited”. Yes, love makes us all do the craziest of things but this is one thing that we should just try out best to stay away from.
4. Trust Your Women’s Intuition, Always
As women, we all have that little voice inside of us that alerts us when a man is up to no good, lying or just being a dog. Trust your women’s intuition, always! If you are in tune with your women’s intuition, there will be no need to snoop, spy or try to catch your man in the act of doing something wrong because you’ll already know the truth! Plus, you’ll save yourself a lot of stress, drama and heartbreak in the long run!
5. Be Confident And Secure – That Is When Men Will Gravitate Toward You
As you get older, it’s hard watching your once single girlfriends fall in love and get rings while you’re still trying to enjoy the “single life”. You’re probably wondering just when your time will come and planning your future wedding with every eligible bachelor you meet. As Paula says, “don’t marry just because it looks good on paper, but because someone loves you exactly the way you are, flaws and all”. Once you’re secure with yourself and confident, it will show and men will begin to gravitate towards you. After all, confidence is sexy and we all know men love to chase a sexy, educated and strong woman!
