Even though NeNe Leakes spent the complete fifth season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” promoting her Hollywood gig “The New Normal,” NBC still decided to cancel the show.
According to reports, the first-year comedy failed to pull in satisfying ratings for the network.

The series followed gay couple Bryan Buckley and David Sawyer (played Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha) who set out to start a family with a surrogate mother. Leakes played Rocky, the assistant of father-to-be Buckley.
Other Black actors including Regina King, Jennifer Hudson and Meagan Good have been cut from the fall 2013 TV season as well. Click through the slides to find out which other shows didn’t make the renewal list.

3. NBC cancels “Guys With Kids” with Anthony Anderson and Tempestt Bledsoe.
4. NBC cancels “Smash” with Jennifer Hudson.
5. CBS cancels “CSI: NY.”
