Angela Bassett Says ‘Waiting To Exhale’ Sequel Is In The Works!
Join me as I rejoice, ladies! According to Angela Bassett, our favorite female right of passage film “Waiting To Exhale,” is getting a sequel! While Angela reveals that producer are still working on a script, she is in good faith!
Producers have a long road ahead of them. Whitney Houston’s character Savannah played a central role in the movie and her passing may be difficult to incorporate into the script (if they plan on addressing it all). Angela shared her thoughts on the sequel with HuffingtonPost.
Terry McMillian shared her thoughts on the sequel to āWaiting to Exhale,ā and revealed that the filmās producers were still up in the air about Whitney Houstonās character, āSavannah Jackson.ā Whatās the latest status?
Theyāre still writing. One of our original producers, from the first āExhale,ā is on board. So thatās a good sign, but theyāre still working on the script. Itās just how to deal with it [Whitneyās loss]. And probably the best way to deal with it is just deal with it. Itās like what happens in life, in a way. Life is about life in passing, living and dying, winning and losing. So thatās what I know so far.
If the producers decide to proceed with the storyline of āSavannah,ā is there anyone that you would like to see play the character?
Not off the top of my head. That would be interesting for the fans to decide. I wonder if they [the producers] have done any outreach that way. Who would the fans like to see, or what they would like to see. I donāt feel like replacing that character is the most respectful way to go, because in my heart I love Whitney and her work and the time that we shared together. Her role and her presence was just so important. I have a hard time replacing someone else in her shoes. I guess they wouldnāt have to do that. We would have to just come up with a brand new friend.
