The Dream Ft. Fabolous- “Slow It Down”
When I first read The Dream‘s new song title, extreme excitement took over my fingers. I couldn’t click fast enough! I was praying the jam would be something along the lines of his killer bedroom anthem “Falsetto” or anything close to something that sounded like it came off his first album. Then of course, the featuring Fabolous added to my anticipation.
“Slow It Down” isn’t that slow. Bummer. That’s what I was hoping for. Sexy? I wouldn’t quite describe the tune as such, maybe… funny is a better adjective. “I know they ain’t gon’ play this on top 40 radio, but the white girls still gon’ ride it like a rodeo,” sings the radio killer. I would have cut it off if I wasn’t expecting him to say at least one R.Kelly-esque line.
All in all, it wasn’t what I was expecting and the top 40 radio reference was uncomfortable but I am looking forward to his upcoming album “Fourplay” due in stores May 7th. Good thing Fabolous saves the day on this one!
Usher- “Go Missin'”
I am one of the biggest Usher fans. I will admit, his new music hasn’t been very moving to me but I get excited every time I hear he has new music because I know what he is capable of. That said, I am pleasantly surprised by his new song “Go Missin.” I wasn’t sure what to expect when I came across the song on Rap-Up, but I counted “Missing” out before even listening. Good thing I did though because Usher’s latest track is everything the club scene needs right now.

J.Cole Ft. Miguel- “Power Up”
I became a J. Cole fan after listening to “In The Morning” for the first time. His music is full of humility and his clever lyrics are refreshing. His latest bid to revive hip-hop, “Power Trip,” featuring Miguel is a cool reminder why I fell in love with his sound in the first place. Of all the tunes released today, it is the sexiest. And J.Cole has a way of bringing the sexy while staying true to his street seams. Miguel adds the perfect harmony to the “Born Sinner” track.
