Donna Summer Dies At 63

[UPDATE] We’ve been saying “Rest In Peace” over and over again these days. This time, we’ve got to say goodbye to disco legend Donna Summer. The Queen of the Disco passed away this morning from her battle with lung cancer that sources say Donna believed she contracted it by inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City.
According to TMZ, the “Hot Stuff” singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. TMZ spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago and they said she didn’t seem too bad. Summer was in Florida at the time of her death.
You may remember Summer’s biggest hits like “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls.” Summer and her producer Giorgio Moroder defined the dance music era of the ’70s and influenced acts like Duran Duran and David Bowie to enter the genre.

Near the time of her death, Summer was said to be working on a new album. She is survived by her two daughters, Mimi Sommer Dohler and Brooklyn Sudano.
