Kanye, Jay, Nicki and Rozay’s “Monster” Video Banned From Television!

I always wondered why I never saw the official “world premiere” of Kanye, Jay Z, Rick Ross and Nicki’s “Monster” video on television, and now I know why. Apparently, MTV along with other music channels has banned the video in response to feminists groups and more specifically, activists like Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard.

The YBF.com reported that according to the feminists groups, “The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women,” mentioned one of the activists.

They went on to say, “Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorize misogyny and brutalize women. Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected. We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.”

While I do agree that the “Monster” video was a little wild, I actually thought it was quite creative. What do you think? Do you think the video should have been banned from television or do you think that the video is a creative expression?
